Ya es día de los muertos!
Is Día de los Muertos once again!, or well, the day after Halloween…
This year, with all my moving around, my budget was miserable! (i’m gonna be living in misery the rest of the year) so it was time to get creative… solution? went to the store across the street and got face makeup for 4 euros.
That combined to a lace dress and a flower on my head, gave me a Dia de los Muertos look, which i’m really proud of, cuz at the same time made think of home.
It’s a tradition to wear several flowers on the women’s hair, but I only had one :( …
Ok! I know, i’m not Mexican, I’m Peruvian… so at home the 1st of nov. is actually the Day of All Saints. The funny thing is that, though names differ, we do exactly the same thing: we remember our beloved who have passed away and we visit the cementery bringing all they that they use to love, in several cases people drink and eat next to the grave with music … and is just a festive ocassion rathen than sad.
This is a tradition that keeps on through generations, just like Halloween, and what I think is amazing about it is that it teaches you at an early age not to be afraid of the death, but rather commemorate them.
Hope your Halloween was amazing! filled with fat candy!
End of the world in less than 2 weeks
I’m looking for some apocalyptic inspiration!! (as incoherent as it may sound)
In less than 2 weeks I’ll have my first “theme” soirée in Paris and it’s about the whole end of the world and survival stuff… since I have no money whatsoever after paying my omg-son-not-cheap entrance fee I must improvise with whatever I find among my things… but oh crap… I brought only the basics with me when I moved in here (even then my lugage was on the limit)… so it’ts time to get creative and pull it off! … some inspiration to get there…
The Absence

Some of you may have noticed, most of you not… but I haven’t written anything in a month now!! (not that I write a lot…) … I finally moved to Paris! and I’ve been moving around like crazy with my -not light- luggage since my studio wasn’t quite ready yet… finally!! on wednesday I stepped into my 9m2 studio!! (i know, tiny)… positives?? this is the sight from my window… I know! the Eiffel Tower? how much parisian/moulin rouge scene can this get?
Other positives…
- Is independent!!! (I just hate living with people)
- Is on the 7th floor… and though the majority of buildings in Paris have no elevator… mine has! (good bye exercise)
So, due to small space, my closet has been reduced to this:
I partially chose what to leave behind … I had picked other stuff that I ended up forgetting in Peru, like my bikini, pijamas, and other essentials… no problem with the bikini since is fall already… but i’ve been improvising my PJ everynight for a month now… must go shop one (eventually).
I vieuw of my studio/dinner table:

And my kitchen (good I don’t really cook often):
Life in Paris… so far so good, not as expensive as people say (i mean… you gotta know where to shop)… french kicked my butt the first couple of weeks at school… but getting along now… i’ll keep ya posted.
Ilo: el puerto
So, as i’ve mentioned before…I came home :)
Home is this port in the southcoast of Peru, it has no movie theather or supermarket (yeah, that small), but must point out… it kicks ass to any major city in the world… is the “living on the beach” dream. Unfortunately, the beach life does not offer a variety of career oportunities, so I’m out there wondering the world looking for god-knows-what…
Still come back at least once a year to check on my parents, and will probably retire here someday….
Since winters are mild here, so I took my camera an went for a walk, here are some shoots of home :)
Note the R2D2 trash can… genius!
The view from dad’s place
Also!! by the way!… today it’s been a year since my first post!! F***! time goes by fast… !!!
Happy Birthday to me!!
Opening mom’s closet
… and stealing a bit…
Ok, I wouldn’t say STEALING per se… I just took a quick look into the stuff she gathers there and neeeever takes out (i’m just like her… with no kid to take my stuff). Everytime i’m home I do runthrough through my mom’s closet… and then put a sad face so she agrees to donate something… she’s got a wide variety of stuff, and only gives me whatever she doesn’t need. So this time!… I found this FUN blazer.
Flower printed blazer with vibrant colors, isn’t just a dreamy piece for spring??! (that will soon be arriving to the south hemisphere)… unfortunately, next week i’ll be moving to Paris and there will be no spring season for me this year… straight to fall… I’ll take it with me though… i mean… check out this cut on the back!! gosh… I just love it…
btw: the blazer is brandless… been sitting on mom’s closet for 5 years now… I’m freaking saving it! And since I’m home for a few days… I’ll be posting some pics of the town, it has a sunny mild winter… unlike Lima… and is just the most pretty place on earth… (and i’ve seen places…)
what pretty things are for
I’m taking a bit of a break since I have some sort of tummy bug eating my inner body!!
Since I feel, basically terrible… need to inspire myself with photography… to at least feel good emotianally, after all, that’s what pretty things are for…
also… need to remind myself that soon I’ll be hitting the road… therefor, no sickness is allowed!! … back to packin! (as soon as I stop acking)
A tip for the weekend and 15 lovely blogs
Hello!
Hope the weekend is going amazing ;)
I wanna share this with you, lovely Dana Kristina from Fashion Tag, with whom I share my hate to coldness (i’m a sun creature) included me into her list of nominated blogs for the Lovely Blog Award. What’s this about? well, is basically just sharing a little of you (blog writter) by putting 7 facts about yourself, and then recomending 15 blogs you like so others can get to them.
Ok, so the reason I’m following this, is cuz I think is a good chance so you know the bit of me, that unless you were a close friend, you wouldn’t know. And… here it goes!
7 things about me…
1. I love traveling, and though I make very little money… I’m a bit outspoken and speak 3 languages, so I make good friends from different countries on each trip… this way I manage to keep traveling a lot by crashing on their places.
2. I don’t think all babies are pretty… c’mon! seriously, there are some funky lookin babies out there, and just hate to be obligated to say: oh how pretty, just cuz we’re friends… the bright side however: usually when they grow up they shake off the uglyness.
3. Sleeping and eating are the most important things to me, if lacking any of those… i’m a bitch.
4. Wine is among my BFF’s (ok, alcohol in general, not quite an alcoholic yet)
5. I love cartoons and it’s mostly what i try to catch on TV, no sitcom compares to a talkin rabbit!! and that’s a fact.
6. Among my favorite movies are Annie Hall, Then Crying game, Tacones Lejanos, the Shawshank Redemption, Kill Bill… but my guilty pleasures are Zoolander, Legally Blonde (only the 1st, the 2nd was just awful), Allong came Polly. I know… just killed any intelectuality in these lines.
7. In my short life I’ve lived and visited many cities, i’m always in the move. But my only home is a tiny city by the oceanside on the south of Peru, named Ilo, even a lot of peruvians (mostly idiotic people from the capital city) don’t know where it is…
And here are 15 blogs I do read frequently and try to follow (can’t check them all everyday… i have a life to live), I’ll tell you why I find them interesting.
With these I keep updated on guys fashion …
I like the style of these 3 girls, plus wanna know what’s up in NY
These are 2 peruvian bloggers whose style i love (on living in NYC, and the other in Lima)
This is not a fashion blog but brings me a lot of memories of NYC…
Again, no fashion blogs, but I love illustration:
This girls is so young! I think is awsome she’s bloggin about fashion so early September and friends
This girl is always on the move as well… so can’t really tell from where she’s bloggin, currently someplace in Europe… but she’s a doll: The Stranger blog
Cool style, is always bringin up the colors in her pics: The Fancy Pants Report
This girl writes from Minneapolis, I used to lived there as well… I’m curious on how she’ll pull the fashion during winter: Farebellafigura
Again, not a fashion blog, but I enjoy the photography
And that’s about that! to close this edition, here comes a tip for that weekend date ;)
